Surprise your child one morning with a simple handmade treasure map made of construing paper, rolled up and tied with a ribbon. The map should depict simple symbols such as an "X" over an obvious location (refrigerator, chair, dog bowl) to indicate treasure. The map should bear the child's name and be placed where it will be easily spotted. Ahoy, matey, it's a map for a treasure hunt! You might have to help your child with the clues and what to do next but he will quickly catch on. When the location is figured out, another rolled-up ma with a clue awaits! After four or five locations, leave a small surprise (a treat, a family movie to watch, bubbles, or a new book) for your child. This unexpected adventure will surely inspire please for future treasure hunts and bounties.
